Legal Advice & Representation for Gypsies & Travellers on the Housing Act in Wales
The Housing (Wales) Act 2014 has brought in the duty on local authorities in Wales to meet the assessed need for Gypsy and Traveller pitches. In those circumstances, if a Welsh local authority are seeking to evict an unauthorised encampment or seeking to take enforcement action against a Gypsy or Traveller who they say are in breach of planning control, they will have to explain how they have complied with this duty before they can hope to take such action.
The Travellers’ Advice Team (TAT) at Community Law Partnership (CLP) provide advice and representation to Gypsies and Travellers throughout Wales in the following areas:
- Evictions from unauthorised encampments;
- Evictions from rented sites (local authority, housing association and private);
- Serious disrepair on rented sites;
- High Court Planning Appeals;
- Planning Injunctions;
- Stop Notices and direct action;
- Homelessness (including for those in houses who need a pitch);
- Allocation of pitches on local authority sites;
- Cases for boat-dwellers especially concerning the Continuous Cruising Guidance.
